FINGAL BAY BEACH HOUSE

Worimi Country

The design of this beach house at Fingal Bay on the NSW mid-north coast, has been inspired by the Gymea Lilies that proliferate across the hill behind the site. Like the lilies, the house reaches up & outward to the light, & in this case, to the panoramic views of Fingal Bay. The stepped plan uses large cantilevers to maximise the footprint on the upper levels which the living spaces inhabit. Generous balconies cantilever off both the front & rear facades so that the owners can follow the sun & escape the onshore breeze when needed. Beautiful views can be enjoyed back up into the National Park whilst always remaining connected to a view of Fingal Bay.

Client Testimonial:

For the uninitiated, a building project can be a daunting experience. Angus understands that, and he goes out of his way to explain the steps involved. He listens to a client’s physical requirements for a design, but puts the creative and practical elements over the top to create a wonderful living space. He’s very calm, considered, tolerant, pragmatic, practical and reasonable – all quite surprising for someone so creative! It was a pleasure to work with Angus on the design of our home and we’d recommend him to anyone wanting help to design a special place to live.
